Car tax

Alright I promise (to myself) that this is the last bit of time wasting… but I do have to say something in praise of car tax. Yes, I thought that would get your attention, I’m not praising the car tax in itself (although I do agree a car tax is necessary) but I paid for my new disc last night online. It took less than a minute! I received a letter a couple of days ago saying your car tax needs renewing, here is your reference number… I went to site yesterday night, put in my reference number and it brought up all my details (Big Brother knows I drive a Ford Escort!). And then it automatically checked that I had a MOT and car insurance, and then seconds later asked me for my card details. After which I got a confirmation email say thank you, your disc is on the way…
Efficiency is so rare, especially government efficiency, but this was pretty slick.
