Nanny Sheila

Good news! My mum is staying while we are in NY and Pluto can stay at the only kennel he'll ever truly be happy in, his own home!! Well, less of a kennel and more of a fleece blanket affair but you get the idea. We've decided to get my mum an extra special present in the US as a big thank you. There is one small problem... we have to clean like we've never cleaned before. There goes the weekend!!
My partner finished our rather fabulous new coffee table yesterday. This is an achievement above and beyond normal flat pack type achievements, as the instructions were frustrating, and extremely difficult to follow. She's working on our new bookshelves today whilst I make like Miss Mop.
Yesterday was our leaving party at the Black Cap. The Cap folk know how to throw a good party but we did have to combine our send-off with the Eurovision song contest! What a load of...
I'm so glad Finland won. England's entry was SHOCKING. A joke perhaps, an example of post-modern irony, or a cheeky homage to the usual farce, sorry, fare of camp men, female sirens, bad dancing and 'English is definitely not my first language' lyrics? No. Just sheer crap. There was an interview with Daz Whatshisname before the competition, and apparently he could see himself winning. Which was funny because all we ended up seeing was him embarrassing us. He also had the audacity to slate previous entries and suggest that his was the first real chance we had to do well in the competition. Does he not realise the whole Empire / subjugation of half the world at one time has left people a little pissed of with us? No one wants to vote for us anyway but we really let them off the hook last night...
Anyway, despite all that (!) last night was quite fun and I got back very, very late. But I'm pleased to say, I was sober! Had a couple of wines and then went on to the soft stuff. Didn't want the whole of today to be a hungover blur...
